Do those who oppose gay marriage think that all gay people are liberals who want to destroy the family and marriage? That might be the impression they get because the media certainly does not tell the whole story. Not all gay people are liberal. In fact, many gay people own businesses and are fiscally conservative/libertarian.
I am sick of this argument from the religious zealots and all the other nutters out there.
But they have not given one example of how gay marriage will destroy society as a whole.
I always thought that divorce did a great job ar tearing families apart.

And for those non Califorinians, Proposition will keep marriage between a man and a woman. If it is passed, then gays can’t be married and schools will not be affected. If it is not, gay marriage will be taught to children in elementary school and gays can be married.
I mean I just believe that "domestic partnership" is enough for gay couples.
Arranged marriages are definitely not illegal anywhere in the world, and the royal wedding is receiving so many praises. However, no politician or company would ever dare to openly accept gay marriage as even tolerable. Shouldn’t a gay marriage based on love be more acceptable than a marriage arranged for any other reason? Is marriage more about traditions and religion than it is about love?
Under federal law, more than 1,100 rights and benefits to marriage exist, none of which is available to gay and lesbian couples. Yes, you can do some complicated estate planning, but virtually all of the rights marriage conveys on a federal level are simply unavailable without full marriage rights.
Social Security and survivor benefits, tax benefits, Family and Medical Leave Act, immigration rights, estate taxes and equal access to a spouse’s retirement and benefits packages, including health care, are the obvious choices, but many of the federal rights of marriage are things most people never think of, such as spousal immunity in federal prosecutions.
For example, was it right for prop. 8 to be voted on in California. While at first most people would probably think no, because it is an issue of human rights and everyone being equal, a marriages also has many legal implications. It actually financially affects many people if gay marriage is legal.

Gays have lost something like 30 out of 31 gay marriage ballot amendments, often by huge margins. This is because Americans simply do not accept gay relationships.
When will gays understand this, and stop trying to press for special rights?
Why do they think they have any chance of success? They are clearly on the wrong side of public opinion and the wrong side of history.
When will they understand this simple fact?
Here where I live everyone gets to marry whoever they want so it’s hard to explain the rationals of the opponents to people for who gay marriage is natural and evident, who would see a ban on gay marriage as apartheid.
How should I explain to them the reasons the US does not have gay marriage? Any idea? Thanks in advance
I guess i’m asking because i’ve always said that there are more important things to worry about (as it pertains to pres. candidates) than how they feel about gay marriage and abortion and I just wanna know if anyone agrees or disagrees with me.
